When a group organizes with IEA, they form a local association. The local association then elects officers to represent the group, creates bylaws to govern the group, and negotiates an employment contract with the school district.

Once these core pieces are in place, the local association works together to maintain membership, collect dues, resolve conflict and bargain future contracts.
