Grants/Fellowships

Grants are available year-round at the NEA Foundation website.

The NEA Foundation awards grants of up to $5,000 exclusively to NEA members to enhance teaching and learning:

  • Student Achievement Grants support initiatives that improve academic achievement.
  • Learning & Leadership Grants support high-quality professional development.

Active NEA members who are practicing K-12 public school teachers, education support professionals, and higher education faculty and staff at public colleges and universities may apply online. Preference is currently being given to projects that incorporate STEM and/or global learning, as well as projects with leads/partners that are education support professionals.

Application deadlines are: February 1, June 1, and October 15.

The NEA Foundation Global Learning Fellowship

Deadline: Winter

The NEA Foundation Global Learning Fellowship offers educators 12 months of professional development opportunities and a nine-day international field study to support educators as they cultivate global competence skills and build global lesson plans that are shared with educators around the world. Active NEA members who are current K-12 classroom teachers are eligible to apply. Teachers with 5 or more years of classroom experience will be given preference.

By participating in the Global Learning Fellowship program, educators have an opportunity to lead the profession by acquiring the necessary skills to integrate global competence into their daily classroom instruction, advance pedagogy in their school and district, and prepare students to thrive in the flattened global age.
